The 19-year-old G.A. drowned<\/a> on Wednesday, August 26, in a canal along Vredenburg Series A in the Wanica district. The young man was fishing with his father when he entered the water to cool off.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

S<\/span>hortly afterwards, his father noticed that G.A. was no longer visible. He searched for his son but was unable to find him, after which he alerted the police.<\/p>\n

Fire department divers recovered the body from the canal in the evening, near house number 44. Officers from the Forensic Investigation Department and a doctor conducted an investigation at the scene.<\/p>\n

The body was subsequently transported to the mortuary of the Academic Hospital Paramaribo and has since been released to the next of kin.<\/p>\n
