Police intercepted two trucks carrying a large consignment of bags marked \u2018YIN CHAN\u2019 at the Burnside checkpoint on Thursday, August 20. The drivers and an escort were unable to produce documents for the transport and storage of the cargo.<\/p>\n
The trucks were driven by A.T. and D.G. Escort V.K. was also present during the transport. During an inspection of the truck beds, officers found a large quantity of bags.<\/p>\n
As permits are required for the transport and storage of such substances, the vehicles and the entire cargo were seized after consultation with the Public Prosecution Service. They have been placed under police guard.<\/p>\n
The National Environmental Authority has been tasked with conducting a verification investigation. Once this has been completed, the organization, together with the Economic Control Service, will issue guidelines for the further handling and possible relocation of the trucks and their cargo.<\/p>\n
