With a FIDE rating of 2644, he is among the very best players in South and Central America and is currently Mexico\u2019s highest-rated player. His highest classical rating was 2667.<\/p>\n<p>Mart\u00ednez Alc\u00e1ntara achieved major successes at a young age. In 2017, he became world champion in the under-18 youth category, and in 2018 he was awarded the Grandmaster (GM) title. In 2025, he also made a strong impression during the <a href=\"https:\/\/keynews.sr\/suriname-doet-mee-aan-schaaktoernooi-in-trinidad-tobago\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FIDE World Cup<\/a>, where he reached the quarter-finals and eliminated several top players.<\/p>\n<p>His visit to Suriname offers local chess players a unique opportunity to meet him in person.
