In two separate traffic accidents<\/a> on the Afobakaweg on Sunday, September 6, a total of eight people were injured. All victims were transported by ambulance to the Emergency Department of the Academisch Ziekenhuis Paramaribo.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

T<\/span>he first accident occurred near pole 36 and involved a collision between a Toyota Mark X and a Toyota RAV4. The impact caused both vehicles to leave the road. The RAV4 overturned.<\/p>\n

Five people sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for medical treatment. Both vehicles were significantly damaged and had to be removed by a towing service. The exact cause of the collision has not yet been established.<\/p>\n

Motorist swerves to avoid overtaking vehicle<\/h2>\n

About two hours earlier, another serious traffic accident occurred near pole 47. According to the preliminary police investigation, a motorist had to swerve to avoid a vehicle that was carrying out an overtaking manoeuvre.<\/p>\n

While swerving, the driver lost control of the vehicle, left the road and came to a stop in the adjacent bushes. Three people were injured in this accident. They too were taken by ambulance to the Emergency Department.<\/p>\n

The police<\/a> in Paranam are investigating both traffic accidents. Road users are urged to comply with traffic regulations at all times, keep a sufficient distance and remain alert.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

Two serious accidents on Afobakaweg resulted in eight injuries, all of whom were taken to the Academisch Ziekenhuis Paramaribo.
