The Vereniging Surinaams Bedrijfsleven (VSB) has again asked the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Entrepreneurship and Technological Innovation (EZOTI<\/a>) for clarity on import procedures. One reason is a container belonging to an affiliated entrepreneur that was previously detained and later released.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

D<\/span>uring a consultation with EZOTI on August 17, 2026, it was promised that the ministry would explain in writing why the container was initially held back and on what grounds it was subsequently released.<\/p>\n

The VSB<\/a> stresses that the issue goes beyond a single case. According to the business organisation, importers must know in advance which conditions they must meet. Procedures, assessment criteria and applicable rules must also be applied transparently and consistently.<\/p>\n

Delays affect production companies<\/h2>\n

According to the VSB, lack of clarity in import procedures can lead to delays, additional costs and uncertainty for businesses. Production companies in particular may be affected, as they depend on the timely import of raw materials, packaging materials and other means of production.<\/p>\n

The organisation therefore advocates a predictable trade and import policy and equal conditions for all entrepreneurs. Clear rules must prevent other companies from facing similar problems in the future.<\/p>\n

The VSB continues to urge EZOTI to implement transparent procedures and provide clear communication on the application of import rules.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
