There were no personal injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Police at Jarikaba station received the report of the house fire at approximately 10:38 a.m. Upon arrival, the building was already engulfed in flames and the fire brigade was extinguishing the fire. A mini excavator, which was in a construction shack behind the house, was also destroyed by the fire. The fire brigade managed to prevent an adjacent stone house from catching fire.<\/p>\n<p>According to the preliminary police investigation, the burned-down house belonged to A.P. The fire may be linked to the burning of mown grass on an adjacent plot. Grass had allegedly been set on fire there the day before, despite warnings.<\/p>\n<p>On the morning of October 1, smoke was still visible near the wooden house. The fire was discovered later. The exact cause has yet to be determined.<\/p>\n<p>The afdeling Forensische Opsporing (Forensic Investigation Department) and N.V. Energiebedrijven Suriname (Suriname&#8217;s power company) have been called in for further investigation.
