The humanitarian aid is intended for the population affected by the two earthquakes of 24 June and is meant to contribute to recovery.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span class=\"dropcap \" style=\"background-color: #ffffff; color: #000000; border-color: #ffffff;\">The<\/span> handover took place at the port of La Guaira. The rice was transported in two 20-foot containers and handed over by Suriname&#8217;s ambassador to Venezuela, Georgette Garc\u00eda El\u00edas.<\/p>\n<p>On behalf of Venezuela, Gustavo D\u00edaz Aular, director-general at the office of the vice-minister for the Caribbean of Venezuela&#8217;s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Admiral Jos\u00e9 Rafael Hern\u00e1ndez Abchi received the shipment.<\/p>\n<p>On behalf of President Jennifer Geerlings-Simons, Garc\u00eda El\u00edas stressed that Suriname wishes to demonstrate its solidarity with the Venezuelan population through the donation. According to the ambassador, the contribution also reflects the bonds of friendship between the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second humanitarian aid shipment Suriname has delivered to Venezuela since the earthquakes.
