A man identified as C.R. was killed in a stabbing incident on Zwaardragersvisweg in Zoelen, Commewijne district, on Saturday morning, 3 October. Police arrested suspect D.J. shortly after the incident. Following consultation with the Openbaar Ministerie (Public Prosecution Service), he was remanded in custody.<\/p>\n
According to the preliminary police investigation, D.J. visited a woman, C.I., with whom he is said to have had a relationship. Upon arrival, he found her former partner there. An argument between the two men escalated into a fight. D.J. allegedly pulled a knife and injured the former partner before fleeing on foot.<\/p>\n
C.R., the woman\u2019s brother, pursued him. During the pursuit, a struggle broke out between him and the suspect, with both ending up in a roadside ditch. D.J. allegedly stabbed C.R. several times there. The victim died at the scene from his injuries.<\/p>\n
Officers from the Nieuw-Amsterdam police station went to the location following the report and arrested the suspect shortly afterwards. No further information has been provided about the condition of the injured former partner.<\/p>\n
