With these national awards, the organisation aims to recognise individuals, businesses and initiatives that contribute to the quality and development of tourism in Suriname. Nominations have been open since 30 September and will close on 15 November 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The awards focus on various parts of the sector, including hospitality and accommodation, tour operators and guides, culinary experiences, community tourism, employees who directly serve visitors, and tourism innovation and marketing.<\/p>\n<p>According to SHATA, not only large or well-known businesses are eligible. Small enterprises, community initiatives, individual tourism professionals and start-up entrepreneurs may also be nominated.<\/p>\n<p>The organisation points to Suriname&#8217;s tourism potential, with its rainforest, biodiversity, culture, heritage and gastronomy. To realise that potential, SHATA says that, in addition to more visitors, continued investment is needed in quality, professionalism, sustainability and innovation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSuriname has enormous tourism potential, but strong destinations are built by people,\u201d SHATA states in the announcement. With the awards, the organisation wants to highlight good examples and encourage others to contribute to a stronger and more sustainable tourism sector.<\/p>\n<p>The public, visitors, tourism businesses, employees and partner organisations are invited to nominate candidates. Nominees must distinguish themselves through outstanding service, exceptional visitor experiences, responsible tourism, pride in Suriname and a positive contribution to the sector.<\/p>\n<p>Nominations can be submitted through the <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/ShFkfH1tGVNhNsAd8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">online nomination form<\/a>.
