In ABC Actueel, he recently criticised the implementation of government policy. According to him, certain matters are progressing so sluggishly that society still sees no change.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span class=\"dropcap \" style=\"background-color: #ffffff; color: #000000; border-color: #ffffff;\">\u201cI<\/span>t is now more than clear who can do the work and who is not up to it,\u201d Atompai said. According to him, Suriname does not lack plans, but implementation is deficient. \u201cPeople do not implement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The parliamentarian expects President Jennifer Geerlings-Simons to intervene. People who do not want to work or are unable to work should, according to him, make way for people who are capable of doing the job.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do not have a money problem in Suriname. The problem is that many people in positions do not have the capacity to do the work,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>As an example, Atompai mentioned government services that, according to him, can be digitised. This is not happening, he said, \u201cbecause certain people want to remain important.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The expected billions in revenue from the oil sector will also not solve this problem, according to the NPS member. \u201cWe need the right people in the right places.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Departure as committee chairman<\/h3>\n<p>Atompai also addressed his decision to step down as chairman of the standing Education committee in De Nationale Assembl\u00e9e (Suriname&#8217;s parliament) (DNA). According to him, there was a lack of political will to address certain matters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPerhaps if another person fills this position, there will be political will and support,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to Atompai, he has received insufficient support over the past fifteen to eighteen months. This was reason for him to step down as chairman.
