Two suspects, R.S. and S.F., have been arrested and remanded in custody in the case.<\/p>\n<p>The Quick Response Team (QRT) arrested R.S. on Thursday, 1 October 2026, based on information from the Criminele Inlichtingen Unit (CIU). S.F. has also since been arrested.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation was prompted by a report filed by T.L. According to the preliminary police investigation, she was approached via Facebook with attractive offers to invest in online trading. Believing it to be a legitimate investment, she transferred three different sums of money to several bank accounts.<\/p>\n<p>One of the transfers, amounting to SRD 5,800, was according to police deposited directly into R.S.&#8217;s bank account. The amounts of the other transfers were not disclosed.<\/p>\n<p>When the promised returns failed to materialise and T.L. was no longer able to contact the providers, she filed a report with police.<\/p>\n<p>Following consultation with the Openbaar Ministerie (Public Prosecution Service), both suspects were remanded in custody.
