He cited several criminal incidents that have taken place in recent days. \u201cMotorists are being rammed and shot at, people are being robbed, and recently shots were even fired at a police inspector.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The NPS member asked Minister of Justice and Security Harish Monorath to pay more attention to combating crime. \u201cCrime must decrease sharply and the sense of security must return.\u201d He advocated greater visibility and adequate action by the police. According to him, every police station should have at least one vehicle, but this is not the case at Flora police station. \u201cFlora police station does not even have one vehicle,\u201d the member said.<\/p>\n<p>Minister Monorath previously stated that he is experiencing problems with the vehicle fleet of the Korps Politie Suriname (KPS, Suriname Police Force). According to him, pick-ups of a certain model purchased during the previous government keep overheating and breaking down.\u00a0The minister stated that the vehicles have good bodywork, but are very weak mechanically.
