No one was injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Police from the Friendship station received a telephone report of the house fire. By the time officers arrived at the scene, the building, which was constructed partly of wood and partly of concrete, was already engulfed in flames. The fire brigade also went to the location to carry out firefighting operations.<\/p>\n<p>The 30-year-old resident, G.B., told police that he had briefly left the house to collect drinking water from a neighbour further down the street. When he returned, his home was on fire.<\/p>\n<p>The neighbour who made the report stated that he had heard a bang and then saw that his neighbour&#8217;s house was on fire. He immediately alerted the police.<\/p>\n<p>The house was connected to the electricity grid. It is not yet known whether the property was insured against fire.<\/p>\n<p>The Forensic Investigation Department of the Korps Politie Suriname has been called in to conduct a technical investigation into the exact cause of the fire.
