Minister Currie 1536x864 1 Minister Currie emphasises the importance of mental health among young people, warns of the impact of digital stimuli and calls for greater involvement from parents and teachers.

The Minister of Education, Science and Culture is asking parents, teachers and society to pay greater attention to the mental health of young people. According to the minister, increasing screen time, social media and constant digital stimuli can affect the well-being of children and young people.

The minister made the appeal in his message on the eve of the 2026-2027 school year. He stressed that good mental health is an important condition for students to learn successfully and develop to their full potential. “Listen to our young people. Talk to them. Show interest in their feelings and offer support when necessary,” the minister said.

According to him, it is important for parents and teachers to be alert to changes in the behaviour and well-being of young people. The digital environment in which children grow up today offers many opportunities, but can also create additional pressure and constant stimuli.

The minister linked the issue to the government’s aim of ensuring that no student is left behind. According to him, education should not only be accessible, but should also enable young people to develop their talents under healthy conditions.

He also called on parents and caregivers to remain actively involved in their children’s development. According to him, school and family together form the most important foundation for successful young people.

According to the minister, the new 2026-2027 school year will be marked by new opportunities and possibilities. Pupils and students are urged to begin the school year with discipline, commitment and perseverance.
