Leo Brunswijk is leaving open how long he will remain director of Energiebedrijven Suriname (EBS). In an interview with LIM FM, he said that people do not fully determine the course of their own lives and that, according to his faith, his position at the energy company is in God’s hands.
Brunswijk stated that everything someone encounters along their path in life has already been mapped out by God. From that conviction, he also views his current position at EBS.
“The Lord ensures that I will remain there for the time being,” Brunswijk said. At the same time, he stressed that no one knows how long a particular situation will last or what may happen the next moment.
According to the EBS director, people can make plans, but do not have full control over how their lives unfold. As an example, he mentioned someone who builds and furnishes a house, after which circumstances can suddenly change completely.
Brunswijk further stated that the meaning and influence of a name do not arise automatically, but are given “from above”. “You do not know what role you must play for the Lord and when your role ends,” the director said.
