The Korps Politie Suriname (KPS) made 172 arrests nationwide between 1 and 28 September 2026. Of the suspects arrested, 104 were remanded in custody. During the same period, police recorded 28 armed robberies and 27 robberies without firearms.
According to the KPS, the arrests were related to violent and property crimes, as well as other police operations. No homicides were recorded during the reporting period.
Police also recorded 105 burglaries and confiscated 73 driving licences. Ten firearms and thirteen hunting rifles were seized during police operations. The force additionally recorded eight cases of suicide, three traffic fatalities and five missing persons.
According to the KPS, police officers continue to work towards public safety despite limited resources and constraints. The force attributes the results achieved to the efforts of its personnel and the contributions of the public and intelligence services.
Police are calling on citizens to continue reporting suspicious situations and to cooperate towards a safer Suriname.
