DNA member Ann Sadi is demanding access to the oil contracts that Staatsolie has concluded with international oil companies. “We want full access to the contracts,” the parliamentarian said in parliament on Friday.
Sadi wants to know the fiscal terms of these agreements and what the country will gain from these contracts. “We cannot afford secrecy about the revenues from our natural resources.” The DNA member reminded the government that the system would be changed, so there must be full transparency towards society.
DNA member Ronny Asabina also previously said that parliament has received no information at all from the state-owned company about the contracts. “The contract is still being kept secret from parliament and society,” Asabina said. He noted that everyone is preparing for the developments that will come from the oil and gas sector in 2028. But he is concerned about the contracts concluded between Staatsolie and the multinationals.
“How much do we have in oil reserves? What does the contract say about our environmental protection and taxes?” He warned everyone not to celebrate too early, because the contracts are not yet known. “We want to know what is in the oil contracts,” he said again.
