Ministry of Defence makes five classrooms available free of charge to the Ministry of Home Affairs
The Ministry of Defence will make five classrooms available free of charge to the Ministry of Home Affairs (BiZa) for one full academic year. The spaces at the Instituut voor Defensie Opleidingen (IDO) will be used for the higher professional education programme in Public Administration and Financial Subjects for government personnel.
The ministries signed an agreement for this on Friday, 2 October 2026, at the Ministry of Defence. Minister Marinus Bee of Home Affairs, Defence Minister Uraiqit Ramsaran and representatives of both ministries were present.
Bee stressed that well-trained and knowledgeable civil servants are needed for the further professionalisation of public administration. According to him, the continuous development of government personnel also requires good educational opportunities and suitable facilities.
Ramsaran pointed to the importance of cooperation between government institutions and the efficient use of state resources. By jointly using existing educational spaces, the ministries can deploy government facilities more effectively, he said.
With the provision of the classrooms, BiZa will have additional space to hold lectures. The agreement forms part of the ministry’s efforts to increase the expertise of civil servants and further professionalise the government apparatus.
