“I do not respond to isolated opinions of individuals,” VHP deputy chairman Asiskumar Gajadien recently said on ABC Suriname about the advice of party colleague Mahinder Jogi, who believes that Gajadien should not vie for the party chairmanship.
Gajadien said that the party consists of a great many members and that there are therefore different ways of thinking and opinions. “So I do not respond to isolated opinions of individuals,” the VHP parliamentary faction leader said again. He stated that the party is engaged in a proper process.
A number of procedures have been set out, and the core elections, which form the basis of the party, will begin in November. According to him, the core elections should be completed by mid-December; after that, the final process will begin.
The ressort and district structures will then be appointed. The board elections will subsequently take place in the first quarter of 2027. Other bodies and the party council will be elected in the process. “Everything is on schedule,” Gajadien concluded.
