Moengo police have arrested 41-year-old M.R., alias ‘Brio’, in connection with an assault at the fairground in Moengo. The victim reportedly lost consciousness during a fight and was subsequently assaulted while lying motionless on the ground. Footage of the incident later went viral on social media.
The incident took place on Friday, September 11, 2026. According to the victim’s statement, he had gone to the fairground for recreation, where he encountered the suspect.
The complainant stated that ‘Brio’ had allegedly gone through his shoulder bag without permission, which had been placed on a table. The suspect allegedly took money and other personal belongings from the bag. An argument arose over this, which eventually escalated into a fight.
During the confrontation, the victim was allegedly struck on the head with a hard object, causing him to lose consciousness. He said he could not remember anything else about the incident afterwards. When he regained consciousness, he was at home.
A day later, the victim saw a video of the incident circulating on Facebook and WhatsApp. According to him, the footage showed that he was assaulted by the suspect while unconscious and lying motionless on the ground. He subsequently decided to file a report with the police.
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday, September 15, and brought before an assistant public prosecutor. Following consultation with the Public Prosecution Service, he was remanded in custody. Moengo police are continuing the investigation.
