The management of the Stichting voor Bosbeheer en Bostoezicht (SBB, Foundation for Forest Management and Forest Control) discussed strengthening the organisation and the forestry and timber sector during an introductory visit to the Minister of Finance and Planning. The meeting took place on 24 September 2026.
The current situation of SBB and the challenges within the sector were discussed. These included improving the revenue base, local timber processing, oversight and the collection of concession fees.
The meeting emphasised the importance of a structural approach, in which strengthening SBB goes hand in hand with the sustainable development of the timber sector.
SBB will further develop the proposals discussed and the strategic plan and submit them in writing to the ministry. The ministry will then assess them for further follow-up.
