“We do not intend to steal,” said Minister Stephen Tsang of Public Works and Spatial Planning on Wednesday before the start of the Council of Ministers regarding the indictment of his predecessor Riad Nurmohamed.

Tsang emphasized that he is not going to steal, so he does not need to build in safety valves to protect himself. “In any case, we are going to perform the work in the correct manner. We are not going to steal, period,” he repeated.

Meanwhile, the National Assembly (DNA) has decided to establish an investigative committee to handle the claims to indict former ministers Gillmore Hoefdraad, Riad Nurmohamed, and Bronto Somohardjo. The decision was made during a closed-door meeting of parliament.

The committee is tasked with further studying the requests submitted by the Attorney General. This will involve analyzing the underlying files, reviewing relevant documents, and, if necessary, hearing from those involved. Only then will the DNA rule on the next steps.
By establishing the investigative committee, the DNA chooses to first form a complete picture of the files before deciding whether or not the former ministers involved will be indicted.
