De Nieuwe Grond police arrested 36-year-old A.M. on Sunday, September 27, on suspicion of a residential burglary on Sarangistraat. A shoulder bag containing an amount of money in Surinamese dollars was taken from the home.
According to police, the suspect allegedly entered the house by removing three louvre panes from a bedroom window. The resident discovered the theft upon returning home and immediately filed a report.
Shortly afterwards, the resident obtained camera footage allegedly showing the actions of those involved. He handed the footage over to police, who subsequently launched an investigation.
Officers found A.M. at the neighbouring address and arrested him there. Following consultation with the Openbaar Ministerie (Public Prosecution Service), he was remanded in custody.
Detectives from Regio Midden are continuing the investigation. The amount of money taken has not been disclosed.
