Suriname Anti Corruption Commission Emblem The Anti-Corruption Commission challenges VOJ and VOS students to share their vision of a fair Suriname through creative posters, to promote integrity and corruption prevention.

The Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) has launched a poster competition intended to encourage young people to reflect on honesty, integrity and their own role in preventing corruption. Students at VOJ and VOS schools can take part in the competition until 23 November 2026. It is being organised in the run-up to International Anti-Corruption Day on 9 December.

The competition, which officially started on Friday 23 October, centres on the theme ‘Your idea for an honest Suriname’. Through this, the ACC aims to make students aware of the importance of honesty, respect and responsibility in everyday life.

According to the commission, corruption prevention starts not only with legislation and oversight, but also with developing norms and values at a young age. The poster competition gives school students the opportunity to creatively express their vision of a fair society.

Involving young people in corruption prevention

The ACC wants to encourage students to think critically about their own behaviour and its impact on society. Key questions include what honesty means, why integrity is important and how young people themselves can contribute to preventing corruption.

Participants must incorporate their ideas into a poster with a clear and appealing message. The commission hopes that this will not only give young people a greater understanding of the concept of integrity, but will also encourage them to apply this value more consciously in their daily lives.

Free participation, prize-giving on 9 December

Students in junior secondary education (VOJ) and senior secondary education (VOS) may take part in the competition. Participation is free. The submission deadline is 23 November 2026. An independent jury will assess the posters from 23 to 30 November. Creativity and relevance to the theme will each account for 30 percent. Clarity of the message and originality will each account for 20 percent.

To ensure an objective assessment, entries will be judged anonymously. The winners will receive their prizes on Wednesday 9 December, during International Anti-Corruption Day.

Schools and parents urged to encourage students

Students may submit their posters through their school, in person to the ACC or digitally. A special page for digital submissions is available via the website of the Anti-corruption Commission.

The ACC calls on school managements, teachers and parents to encourage young people to participate in the competition and to guide them, where necessary, in developing their ideas.

Through the initiative, the commission is fulfilling its preventive and informational duties, as laid down in Article 4 of the Anti-corruption Act (S.B. 2017 no. 85).

The organisation emphasises that promoting integrity is a shared responsibility. By making young people aware at an early stage of the importance of acting honestly, the ACC hopes to contribute to a society in which corruption has less room.
