The body of 46-year-old W.A., who went missing in the Suriname River on the afternoon of Friday, September 18, 2026, has been recovered. The victim was found in the river near Ameraliweg, in the vicinity of the Anandsteiger.
Police from Meerzorg station received a report at around 2:48 p.m. on Friday that a man had fallen into the Suriname River. Preliminary police investigations show that W.A. had shortly beforehand carried out repair work on the outboard motor of a vessel.
