Eight Surinamese strength athletes qualified for Caricom Strong Fest 2027 during Strongestman Suriname 2026. The numbers one and two in the four competition classes secured entry to the regional event.
The tournament was organised last weekend by Stichting Alpha Strong, on the initiative of S. Codrington and with support from the Hi-Jet Platform. Participants completed various strength tests, in which technique and explosiveness, in addition to muscle strength, also played a role.
Qualification in four classes
In the Novice class up to 70 kilograms, V. Ramharakh finished in first place, followed by R. Soebratie. Both athletes thereby qualified for Caricom Strong Fest.
Stevan Rudge won the Novice Open class. Fernando Djodikromo came second and also secured entry. Shane Jubitane finished in third place.
In the Semi Master class, victory went to Wikash Ramsaran. Deepak Nanhoe finished second. They too will be allowed to represent Suriname at the regional event next year.
Felicio Ondaan won the Master Class, in which Kenvin Forster secured the second qualifying place. Donovan Satam came third.
Appreciation for sponsors and partners
For the eight qualified athletes, the coming period will focus on preparations for Caricom Strong Fest 2027.
Vice-chairman Rishaja Nathoeni expressed his appreciation afterwards for the sponsors and partners who made the tournament possible. According to him, their support was important in providing the athletes with a professional competition platform.
“This is a collective victory for all Surinamese athletes,” Nathoeni said.

In addition to the strongman competitions, an arm-wrestling competition was held. Nathan Beck won the lightweight class, with Radjief Soebratie in second place.
Among the heavyweights, Deepak Nanhoe finished first, followed by Wikash Ramsaran. In the superheavy class, victory went to Akshay Dataram. Marciano Tsang came second.
