ecd During an inspection on Hendrikstraat, unlicensed fish processing was discovered and fish products were seized. Several businesses were also issued warnings for violations and maintenance deficiencies.

The Krin Kondre Enforcement Team established during an inspection of a business on Hendrikstraat that fish was being processed without the required permit. The fish products present were subsequently confiscated and the case was handed over to the police for further investigation. Other businesses also received warnings for violations and poor maintenance of roadside verges.

The inspections were carried out in response to complaints about the condition of properties, permits, and compliance with hygiene and safety regulations. Various government services took part in the inspection operation, including the Economische Controle Dienst (ECD) of the Ministry of Economische Zaken, Ondernemerschap en Technologische Innovatie (EZOTI).

Fish processing without a permit

At H.J. Shopping on Hendrikstraat, the enforcement team found several irregularities. The business was ordered to clean the roadside verge, the area in front of the façade and the trench at the rear of the premises.

During a further inspection, inspectors discovered that fish-processing activities were taking place within the business without the required permit. The fish products present were confiscated. Police have taken over the investigation.

Entrepreneurs ordered to clean roadside verges

Several businesses on Kwattaweg were also inspected. Written warnings were issued to N. Handel Scrap Metals and another trading business. The entrepreneurs must clean their roadside verges and remove cement statues that had been placed on the verge.

In addition, the grease trap at Slagerij L., also on Kwattaweg, was inspected. The entrepreneur was advised to modify the inlet of the grease trap. On Napelstraat, the owner of a trading business received a warning letter from the building police. According to inspectors, a structure had been placed on the roadside verge that was permanently connected to the ground.

Ministry warns entrepreneurs

The Ministry of EZOTI stresses that entrepreneurs are required to comply with laws and regulations. They are also called upon to provide full cooperation during inspections by ECD officials and other authorised bodies.

The authorities also call on the public to report suspected price gouging and smuggling. Complaints can be submitted via WhatsApp at +597 853-0915 or by telephone at 483949.
