The Santo Boma police have arrested 44-year-old J.S. after his girlfriend filed a report against him. The man is suspected of, among other things, indecent assault, assault, threats against life, threats of arson and vandalism. He has been remanded in custody.
J.S., who lives in the Netherlands, had come to Suriname to visit his girlfriend. The two had met via TikTok. According to the woman, there had regularly been arguments and threats within the relationship.
During one of the arguments, the situation allegedly escalated after the woman indicated that she did not want J.S. to touch her. The suspect then allegedly dragged her to a bedroom and assaulted her.
He is also alleged to have threatened to kill her and set the house on fire. In addition, he allegedly damaged a door of the house.
Following the report, J.S. was arrested by police. The investigation is continuing.
