A family dispute over SRD 200 in Para escalated into a threat with a knife. Police from the Rijsdijk station arrested 45-year-old D.D. after his aunt, D.C., filed a report against him.
According to D.D.’s statement, his grandmother had given him SRD 500. After he had done some shopping, he placed SRD 200 in loose change on the kitchen table. He suspected that his aunt had taken the money, but she denied this. During the argument that followed, D.D. allegedly threatened to kill her with a knife.
Police said he then took a machete and used it to chop at an awning of the house. Police seized the knife and the machete. D.D. has been remanded in custody. The investigation is continuing.
