A 38-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly assaulting his partner and threatening to kill her on Wednesday evening. The incident took place on Ajmerweg in Wanica.
The police received a report of assault at approximately 11:45 p.m. and found the victim, R.S., upon arrival. The woman stated that, following an argument, her partner, J.N., grabbed her by the throat and slapped her in the face with an open hand.
The argument reportedly arose from a disagreement over the colour of their daughter’s school uniform.
According to the preliminary police investigation, the woman has been systematically abused throughout their 17-year relationship. The suspect is said to have behaved aggressively towards her on several occasions.
Following consultation with the Public Prosecution Service, J.N. has been remanded in custody. The police in Kwatta are continuing the investigation.
