Mexican referee Fernando Hernández Gómez will officiate the match between Honduras and Suriname in the group stage of the CONCACAF Nations League. The experienced referee has been appointed for the match, which will be played on Friday, September 25, at 10 p.m. at the Estadio Nacional Chelato Uclés in Tegucigalpa.
The refereeing team consists entirely of Mexicans. Ibrahim Martínez and Enrique Bustos are the assistant referees, while Ismael López will serve as fourth official.
Hernández Gómez is among the experienced referees in Mexican football. According to the referees’ committee of the Mexican football federation, he began his professional career in 2008. He officiated matches in Liga TDP, Liga Premier and Ascenso MX before becoming active at the highest level.
In 2015, he made his debut in Liga MX during the match between Dorados de Sinaloa and Jaguares de Chiapas. In 2018, he received the FIFA referee badge, allowing him to officiate international matches as well.
The Mexican referee also has experience officiating matches involving national teams from the CONCACAF region.
