WhatsApp Image 2026 09 03 at 14.54.53 Civil servants at the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture have been able to apply for and download employer's declarations digitally through their digital ID platform since 1 September. The system will soon be expanded to other ministries.

Civil servants at the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture (OWC) have been able to apply for and download their employer’s declaration digitally since 1 September. The system is to be expanded later to cover the entire civil service.

According to acting director of e-Gov, Lydion Dalfour, the digital service is being introduced in phases. OWC was selected as the first ministry because of the high demand for employer’s declarations and its large workforce.

Civil servants at the ministry have received an additional tab on their digital ID platform. Through this function, they can apply for an employer’s declaration and subsequently download the document.

Dalfour says the system will be further refined before other ministries are connected. He expects the expansion to the rest of the civil service will not take long.

According to e-Gov, security measures have been incorporated to verify the authenticity of the employer’s declarations. This should make it possible to determine whether a document was actually issued through the official system. According to Dalfour, the legal requirements have also been taken into account.

The introduction of the digital employer’s declaration is part of a broader process to digitise government services. E-Gov is working, among other things, on digital document management and further improvements to service provision. Coordination is also under way with the Korps Politie Suriname on improvements to the digital driving licence portal.
