Police discovered the modified scooter during a routine patrol. Upon closer inspection, officers established that the vehicle was equipped with a modified engine and various special racing parts.
Due to the technical modifications and the violations identified, the scooter was immediately seized and taken to the police station. The vehicle will undergo a re-inspection to determine its technical condition.
Police warn of risks posed by modified scooters
Police stress that illegally tuning and modifying mopeds and scooters can pose serious risks to road safety. Not only the driver, but also other road users may be put at risk as a result.
Parents and guardians are also urged to ensure that minors do not operate vehicles that have been modified in an unauthorised manner.
The Verkeershandhavingsteam has announced that it will continue inspections of modified mopeds and scooters in the district of Nickerie without interruption.
