Police arrested the suspect M.J., better known as ‘Ricky’ or ‘Bigs’, on Thursday, October 29, 2026, on suspicion of fraud and embezzlement. The man allegedly posed as an employee of the Domeinkantoor and defrauded several people of money by promising them land plots.

The suspect came to the attention of the Criminal Intelligence Unit (CIU) and was subsequently arrested by members of the Quick Response Team (QRT). According to police, M.J. also used the names ‘Rambali’ and ‘Rohit’.

A total of eight people have filed reports against the suspect for fraud and embezzlement. According to the complainants, the man approached them with the story that he worked at the Domeinkantoor and could arrange land plots for them in exchange for payment.

The victims allegedly transferred money to the suspect on the basis of these promises. This involved both cash payments and bank transfers. It has not been disclosed how much money the suspect allegedly received in total.

Following consultation with the Openbaar Ministerie (Public Prosecution Service), M.J. was remanded in custody by police. The investigation into this case is continuing.
