The 30-year-old I.V., better known as ‘Barbie’, was arrested by Latour police on Sunday, October 25, 2026, on suspicion of assault, threats and vandalism. The woman allegedly assaulted and threatened a taxi driver, after which she also behaved aggressively and caused damage at the police station.
According to the preliminary police investigation, the 36-year-old taxi driver W.M. was instructed to pick up a customer in the vicinity of Latour. Upon arrival, it turned out to be a woman he had transported several times before. She asked him to take her to a house in the vicinity of Pad van Wanica.
Once at the address, the woman got out, after which she got back into the taxi a short time later together with a man. The pair wanted to be taken to the city centre. During the journey, however, an argument arose between the woman and her male companion. The dispute got out of hand, with the man striking the woman several times in the face before getting out of the taxi.
Following the incident, the woman allegedly turned against the taxi driver without any clear reason. She assaulted him, causing him to sustain a cut. When the driver then asked her to pay the outstanding fare, she again reacted aggressively and threatened him with a sharp object.
The taxi driver subsequently filed a report with Latour police. Some time later, the suspect herself appeared at the police station. According to police, she was presumably under the influence of alcohol and/or another intoxicating substance.
The woman also caused a disturbance at the police station. She forcibly pulled down a curtain, causing it to tear. She also threw bulletproof vests from the shelves onto the floor and spat on them. The police officers present were verbally abused, and the woman allegedly also attempted to strike a police officer with a chair.
Following consultation with the Openbaar Ministerie (Public Prosecution Service), I.V. was remanded in custody pending the investigation. She was transferred to the women’s detention facility in Geyersvlijt. The investigation into this case is continuing.
