The issuance of E-driving licences at the Driving Licences Department of the Korps Politie Suriname (KPS) was temporarily suspended on Monday due to a power outage. As a result, licence holders who were present could not be assisted immediately.

Het KPS published an updated list of available E-driving licences on Friday, 28 August. In response, a large number of people reported to the department on Monday to collect the document.

During processing, the power went out at around 12.40 p.m. As a result, the work could not be continued temporarily.

According to the KPS, efforts are being made to resume issuing the driving licences as soon as possible and clear the backlog. Police expect the Driving Licences Department may remain busy in the coming days.

The KPS asks the public for understanding and patience.
