Persons of Surinamese descent can now also apply for or renew their PSA document via a mobile app. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Cooperation (BIS) announced on October 2 that the official ‘PSA Suriname’ app is available free of charge in the Google Play Store.
Via the app, users can scan their passport, after which the data are automatically transferred. They can also upload a passport photo and the required documents and pay online. In addition, the app offers the option to track the application status, receive notifications and store the digital PSA document on the phone.
The app is currently available exclusively for Android devices. According to the ministry, work is underway to obtain approval for iOS, so that iPhone users will also be able to download the app. Until then, they can use the PSA website.
The PSA document is intended for persons of Surinamese descent who live abroad and hold a nationality other than Surinamese nationality. The application and payment process has been fully digital since June 2025. Since July of that year, the document has been issued as a digital PSA card.
The app can be downloaded via the Google Play Store.
