Robinhood will face Jamaica’s Mount Pleasant FA in the semi-finals of the CFU Club Shield on Friday, 31 July. With a win, the Surinamese club will not only secure a place in the final, but will also qualify for the Concacaf Caribbean Cup 2026.
Robinhood convincingly qualified for the last four by defeating Guyana’s Slingerz FC 4-0 on Tuesday at the Larry Gomes Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago. Renske Adipi opened the scoring in the 37th minute with a long-range shot. After the break, the red-and-greens extended their lead through Leandro Rodrigues, Dimitrio Andro and Ravelo Zijler.
Mount Pleasant reached the semi-finals by defeating Weymouth Wales FC of Barbados 1-0. Joseph Marreno scored the match’s only goal in the 67th minute.
The Jamaicans are regarded as strong opponents. Mount Pleasant are the reigning Concacaf Caribbean Cup champions. The club captured the regional title in 2025 by defeating Universidad O&M FC from the Dominican Republic 3-2 over two matches. Robinhood won the same tournament in 2023 and is therefore also among the Caribbean’s recent champions.
There is much at stake on Friday. Both the champion and runner-up of the CFU Club Shield qualify for the Concacaf Caribbean Cup. A victory over Mount Pleasant would therefore give Suriname two representatives in the regional club tournament. National champions SV Broki have already qualified directly.
In the other semi-final, Delfines del Este from the Dominican Republic will take on Metropolitan FA from Puerto Rico. Delfines eliminated Inter Willemstad on penalties, while Metropolitan beat Helenites SC 2-1.
The CFU Club Shield final will be played on Sunday, 2 August. The winner will be placed in Group B of the Caribbean Cup. The losing finalist will be assigned to Group A, which also includes SV Broki.
