POLITIE 006 82 A 16-year-old boy has been arrested for sexual acts with a 13-year-old girl in Akalekondre. The investigation has been transferred to the Juvenile Affairs Department.
The Moengo police are investigating a suspected sex offence in the village of Akalekondre, in the district of Marowijne. A 16-year-old boy, identified by the initials B.B., has been arrested on suspicion of sexual acts with a 13-year-old girl from his immediate residential area.

The case came to light after the girl’s 35-year-old mother filed a report at the Moengo police station on Friday, October 2, 2026. The suspected criminal acts are said to have taken place in the family home while the mother was absent due to family circumstances.

According to preliminary investigation findings, the woman had temporarily left her home because of the death of her father. Her minor children remained at home during her absence.

At some point, the mother was informed by telephone by a family member about possible sexual acts between her daughter and the 16-year-old boy. Shortly afterwards, she received a video recording showing her daughter and the suspect together. Upon her return, the woman confronted her daughter with the footage, after which she reported the matter to the police.

Suspect transferred to Opa Doeli

Following consultation with the Public Prosecution Service (OM), the police remanded the 16-year-old suspect in custody. Due to his age, he has been placed at the Jeugddoorgangscentrum Opa Doeli.

The investigation has since been transferred to the Jeugdzaken department, which is further investigating the circumstances under which the suspected criminal acts took place.
