DNA member Ebu Jones wants the government to make every effort to gather more information and make it available to the parents of three missing Surinamese men, who have been missing in Guyana since August 29.
Jones noted that reports have appeared in the media and on social media in recent days about three Surinamese citizens who are missing in Guyana. According to him, an investigation is underway in Guyana and a report has also been filed with the police. “But what is the government doing?” Jones asked in parliament on Monday.
He claimed that the parents are distraught and recently approached parliament for help. “I do want to know from the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the government what is being done and what efforts are being made to ensure that more information is made available regarding these missing Surinamese nationals.” He again stressed that the state must do everything possible in this matter to gather as much information as possible and make it available, especially to the concerned parents.
Derryl Bont is one of the missing persons, whose disappearance was recently made public on social media by his relatives. He was last seen in Nickerie, together with his two friends. His vehicle was later found at the Clarasluis.
