“All ABOP people in positions are being criminalised,” DNA member Ronnie Brunswijk said in parliament on Monday. Brunswijk demanded clarification from Minister Raymond Landveld of Transport, Communication and Tourism and the government about the conflict situation at Telecommunicatie Autoriteit Suriname (Suriname Telecommunications Authority), where the director and the chair of the supervisory board cannot get along. “The director is being accused by the chair of the supervisory board without any evidence.”
He stated that there is a conflict situation between RVC members and management at Canawaima. Such a situation had previously also been apparent at NV Grassalco, which is now under control. But the situation at TAS remains worrying. “The female director is being criminalised,” Brunswijk said.
According to him, the situation is serious and a point has been reached at which this matter has been brought before parliament. The Transport committee investigated the case and found no irregularities or obstruction. “Management provided all information to the RVC on time, yet management is being criminalised.”
He stated that ABOP people are being criminalised in all positions where they are present. “What is happening? I am already tired and I am also being put under pressure by the people. So I want clarity,” Brunswijk said.
