734152359 122331701192011040 6866568757122931023 n During a traffic check on the Oost-Westverbinding, eight driving licences were confiscated for speeding offences. Police also enforced other traffic violations to improve safety.

The police confiscated eight driving licences for speeding violations during a traffic check on the Oost-Westverbinding on Sunday, November 1, 2026. These involved seven Surinamese driving licences and one Guyanese driving licence.

The check was carried out by the Verkeer Regio West unit. Its purpose was to reduce traffic violations and promote road safety on this important connecting road. In addition to the eight confiscated driving licences, police also issued reports against several other road users. These included driving with an expired inspection certificate, not wearing a safety helmet on a moped, and driving a vehicle without a proper muffler.

Police emphasise that road users must comply with traffic regulations. Exceeding the speed limit in particular poses a risk to the safety of both drivers and other road users.

According to police, traffic checks in Regio West will continue. Road users are urged to behave responsibly and to prioritise road safety.
