“I have no quarrel with Mrs Simons,” DNA member Mahinder Jogi recently said on To The Point about President Jennifer Geerlings-Simons.
He confirmed that he often demands the president’s presence in parliament and asks critical questions, but there is no quarrel between him and the head of state. “When I tackle the president in parliament, it is not a quarrel between Jogi and Mrs Simons. I do my work in my way and she does hers in her way.”
He also frequently asks critical questions of Minister Harish Monorath of Justice and Security, but stresses that this is not a personal attack on the minister. “I have no problems with the minister; I am a parliamentarian and am merely doing my job.”
What particularly bothers him is the fact that the minister has still not provided parliament with clarity about the missing 537 kilograms of mercury from Geyersvlijt police station. “The entire society wants to know where the 537 kilograms of mercury have disappeared to.”
The DNA member cannot imagine that the mercury disappeared from a police station and that the minister is still unable to provide parliament with information after months. “The minister does have the information, but does not want to share it with parliament.” He again stressed that he has no quarrel with the minister and hopes that he does not see his questions as a personal attack.
