The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries (LVV) donated vegetables, fruit and other food items on Friday, October 16, 2026, as part of World Food Day, to several schools, social institutions and children’s homes in the Central region. With this action, the ministry aims to draw attention to healthy nutrition while supporting vulnerable groups in society.
The donation drive was carried out under the leadership of Deputy Director of Agriculture Central, Sawirjo Soeparman, in collaboration with the local LVV district offices. Ministry staff visited several institutions to personally hand over the food items. According to LVV, the donations were received with enthusiasm and gratitude.
With the initiative, the ministry primarily aims to emphasise the importance of healthy and varied nutrition among children. In addition, the action targets people who are partly dependent on social support for their daily food supply.
According to LVV, supporting vulnerable groups is part of the ministry’s broader social responsibility. In addition to promoting agricultural production and strengthening the national food supply, LVV also aims to contribute to the well-being of society.
Focus on food security and combating hunger
World Food Day is observed worldwide every year on October 16 at the initiative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The day focuses on food security, healthy nutrition and the global fight against hunger and malnutrition.
Attention is also drawn to sustainable food production and the important role of farmers in making sufficient and affordable food available.
LVV emphasises that food is not only a basic necessity of life, but also a means of promoting solidarity and connectedness within communities. With the donation drive, the ministry aims to put this message into practice on World Food Day.
