A fire severely damaged several apartments on Mr. Rashied Pierkhanweg on Sunday afternoon, September 13. The fire brigade managed to prevent the blaze from spreading further.

Santo Dorp police received a report at around 4.58 p.m. of a fire in a low-rise home at the apartment complex. When police and the fire brigade arrived, a row of apartments was on fire.

The blaze caused considerable damage to several residential units and parts of the roof structure. Swift action by the fire brigade prevented further spread. Police cordoned off the area and ensured safety around the complex.

One of the most severely affected apartments was occupied by a police officer. This home suffered very serious damage and a large part of its contents was lost. No information has been reported about possible injuries. The cause of the fire is not yet known. The investigation is continuing.
