Upc 2 The rehabilitation of the Afobakaweg near Paranam has been completed and the road will reopen within five days, with improved quality and road safety thanks to the upcycling of existing material.

The Wegenautoriteit (Road Authority) has completed rehabilitation work on the Afobakaweg near Paranam. The road remains temporarily closed to traffic, but is expected to reopen within five days.

The work focused on improving the quality and driveability of the road. The adjustments are also intended to contribute to better accessibility and greater road safety in the area.

Before the rehabilitation, the asphalt showed various deformations and subsidence. According to the Wegenautoriteit, this damage was partly caused by prolonged and heavy use of the road.

An upcycling method was used during the works. Existing road material was reprocessed to strengthen the road structure and extend the lifespan of the road surface.

Although the work has been completed, the Afobakaweg may not yet be used. The Wegenautoriteit calls on road users to follow the traffic measures and instructions on site and to use the road only after it has officially reopened.

The rehabilitation is part of the Wegenautoriteit’s efforts to improve and make the road infrastructure more sustainable.
