Vice President Gregory Rusland is representing President Jennifer Geerlings-Simons at the Caribbean United in Excellence Summit in Curaçao. The summit takes place on Friday, 9 October, and focuses on regional cooperation and joint development opportunities in the Caribbean.
Rusland arrived on the island on Wednesday, 7 October. At Hato International Airport, he was received by Prime Minister Gilmar ‘Pik’ Pisas and Minister of Economic Development Roderick Middelhof. Representatives of the Surinamese consular representation in Curaçao were also present at the reception.
During the summit, representatives from the region will exchange knowledge and experiences on common challenges and opportunities. Topics include sustainable development, pooling expertise and strengthening regional partnerships.
Through its participation, Suriname seeks to continue dialogue with other Caribbean countries and territories. The meeting provides an opportunity to discuss joint priorities and explore possibilities for further cooperation.
Rusland’s visit also coincides with Dia di Outonomia on Saturday, 10 October, Curaçao’s Autonomy Day. In that context, the Vice President will attend several ceremonial activities.
