The Santodorp police on Wednesday, September 2, arrested 30-year-old R.K. on suspicion of stealing an iPhone 13 Pro Max from a mechanic’s shop on the Nieuw Weergevondenweg.
The owner filed a report on Tuesday, August 25, after discovering that the device had been taken from the shop. Following an investigation, R.K. emerged as a suspect.
Acting on information from the complainant, police traced him to an address on the Hiraweg. According to police, R.K. stated that he had taken the phone from the mechanic’s shop and subsequently sold the device for an amount in Surinamese dollars to a phone shop on the Kwattaweg.
The suspect was arrested and brought before the Santodorp police station. Following consultation with the Public Prosecution Service, he has been remanded in custody pending further investigation.
