“Police will take action against citizens who are still driving with slips,” police chief Melvin Pinas said on Monday on To The Point.
Pinas said that many innovations have been introduced at the driving licence department. As a result, the production of driving licences is now optimal, but the licences are not being collected. “There are currently 18,000 driving licences waiting to be collected.”
He urged the public to collect their documents and warned that police will take action against citizens who are still driving around with slips.
At roadblocks, if citizens show police a slip instead of a driving licence while the licence is already ready to be collected, measures will be taken. “It cannot be that your driving licence is already ready and you are still driving with a slip.”
Pinas further said that tablets have been issued to the police, and through these devices officers can check during roadblocks whether a person’s driving licence is already ready.
