Three employees of a water production company in Wanica have been arrested on suspicion of fraud and causing financial loss to their employer. Since last year, they allegedly delivered large quantities of water without remitting the money received to the company.
The suspects G.R., B.M. and K.S. were arrested by Recherche Regio Midden Suriname (Central Suriname Regional Criminal Investigation Department), in cooperation with the Quick Response Team and the intelligence services.
According to the preliminary police investigation, the employees allegedly committed the suspected irregularities by falsely preparing delivery notes. Police report that the suspects allegedly searched Google for information on imitating Chinese signatures. These signatures were then allegedly placed on the delivery notes.
The case came to light after irregularities were identified within the water production company. The company subsequently filed a police report, after which Recherche Regio Midden-Suriname took over the investigation.
G.R. was the first to be arrested. The arrests of B.M. and K.S. followed shortly afterwards. The three suspects have been remanded in custody in the interest of the investigation.
Police are continuing the investigation.
